It's Good to be King!

The next phase of Disney's Art of Animation Resort is set to open August 10!  This phase features the Lion King, and joins the already opened Cars and Finding Nemo themed areas of the Resort.  Each section of the resort is themed and decorated after the movies they represent!  So you will find Mater, Nemo, and Simba all waiting for you to discover, play, and sleep.

The resort offers basic rooms and family suites, making it the most expensive of the WDW 'Value' Resorts.  The Suites are actually more expensive than 1 Moderate priced resort room, but if you are traveling with multiple family members, or have a little one that needs privacy and quiet when sleeping, it may be worth extra expense.  I, for one, prefer a Moderate resort, but the theming and my daughters love of the Cars franchise temp me to give these a try on our next trip.  The resort also features an arcade, pool side snack bar, and food court.

Little Mermaid Standard Room are soon to follow in September.

What do you think of this resort?  Do you prefer WDW Value Resorts, or a Moderate or Deluxe?  Will you go AoA a try?

New and Exciting WDW

If you do not know, Fantasyland in Walt Disney World is going thru a rather large expansion, which includes 2 new rollercoasters, new restaurants, and a re-imagining of Dumbo, among other things.  This is a much anticipated event, especially for those who have been looking for something new at WDW for awhile!

Today Disney announced opening dates for Beasts Castle, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and Storybook Circus!
We are planning our next trip for 2013, so I will be so excited to see all the new things!  Take a look at the Disney blog for more info.  http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/04/opening-dates-announced-for-beast%E2%80%99s-castle-seven-dwarf-mine-train-more/

We are also given a sneak peek into the re-imagined Test Track, which now looks WAY more futuristic (TRON anyone?) than its predecessor.  You can design your own ride!  http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/04/new-renderings-depict-a-reimagined-test-track-at-epcot/

Are you excited for all the new things in Fantasyland?  How about Test Track?

Dining Secrets at Disney

Found a fun article this morning about dining secrets at Walt Disney World!  For those of us who have been there often, some of these are no surprise, but I was surprised to hear about Mickey shaped cucumbers and melons!  Definitely something to check out my next trip.  As for me, my food 'must dos' at Disney are Dole Whip floats, Mickey Rice Krispie treats, and a new favorite, the Liberty Tree Tavern.  We just went there for the first time this last trip, and really enjoyed the family style, homestyle meal.  There was way too much food for 4 (well 3 1/2 of us)! No trip is complete for my husband without a turkey leg, of course.

My all time favorite, which sadly no longer exists, was at Cosmic Rays, and was essentially a cone of BBQ pulled chicken in a flatbread.  The chicken was the best I've ever had, I miss it when I go!

What are your favorite Disney foods?

Sad News...

Robert Sherman dies at 86.

Free Dining Starts Today!

HOORAY!  Today is the happiest of days for me, because you can now book your WDW trip with FREE Dining!  If you're traveling between Aug. 15-29, you qualify at selected Value, Moderate, and Deluxe Resorts!

In my opinion, Free Dining is an amazing value, and my favorite discount Disney offers.  Hubby and I went on our Honeymoon without Free Dining, and on average, our Quick Service meals alone cost us just under $20!  And that wasn't even a sit down meal!  So to be able to eat for free in the World is a HUGE deal to me, and a tremendous savings!

One More Disney Day!

Did you know that tomorrow (LEAP DAY!) for the first time EVER both Disneyland Park and The Magic Kingdom will be open for 24 HOURS STRAIGHT?!?

It's true!  One More Disney Day allows you to enjoy the parks for 24 hours straight starting at 6pm tomorrow.  Our friends at wdwmagic.com have done an AWESOME job of helping you make the most out of this magical experience.  Here's the link...   http://www.wdwmagic.com/Events/One-More-Disney-Day.htm

I would try to take advantage of things I don't get a chance to on every trip...Tom Sawyer Island, The Tiki Birds, and as many trips on the People Mover as I could!  I'd probably also try to fit in as many Dole pineapple floats as I could muster...

What would YOU do with 24 hours in a Disney Park?  Where would you eat?
